Winterizing your Pool

When and how to close your pool......by BioGuard

It's best to wait until the pool water temperature drops below 65 degrees to begin your off-season closing. Just follow these steps to properly winterize.

Step 1- Assess the general condition of your pool water. The best way to do this is to bring a water sample into our store. Make sure you take care of any existing problems such as visible algae or cloudy water before closing. If you close the pool with a problem unresolved, the situation is likely to get worse and your winter products will be consumed more rapidly.

Step 2- Brush and vacuum. Brush the pool surfaces and vacuum the pool to remove all visible debris. Clean the waterline with BioGuard Off the Wall. Chemically clean the filter with Strip Kwik.

Step 3- Add the Arctic Blue products. Apply Arctic Blue Shock first, then use Arctic Blue Algae Protector. Use both products according to label instructions.

Step 4- Check your pool cover. Make Sure there are no holes that would allow debris to get underneath the cover and into the water. the cover itself should be on top of the water surface, pulled tightly. Remove any excess debris that falls on the cover that could weigh it down during the winter months.
